How do I enroll my child at Zion Lutheran School?

Receive approval from Zion's Board of Education after the application is reviewed.

What is the cost of education at Zion?

There is a $100.00 per family application fee that is due with the submission of an application

Tuition for our school can be found on our handbook page.

Students at Zion are also required to have religion books for our curriculum. Required books are the Bible (New International Version), catechism books and a hymnal. The total cost, per child for these books ranges from $13.00-$53.00 depending on grade level and previously owned books.

Does Zion Lutheran School have a hot lunch program?

Zion Lutheran School does not have a formal hot lunch program. Students may microwave their food at lunch in the classroom. Pizza may also be purchased for lunch on Friday for $1.00 a slice.

What are the dates of vacations and days off?

What are the school day hours?

Classes begin at 8:00am and run through 3:00pm. Students may arrive no earlier than 30 minutes prior to the school day and they must be ready for class at 8:00am. After school care is available.

How do I get my child to and from school?

Zion Lutheran School does not provide any bussing or other transportation to and from school. Car pools are encouraged and Mr. Scherschel can assist you in getting plans arranged.

Without a gym, how do you have Physical Education?

Zion Lutheran School uses our spacious playground area and soccer field for our Physical Education classes. We also use indoor space for classes during inclement weather.

Does Zion Lutheran School participate in any sports?

There are 10 other Wisconsin Synod Lutheran Schools in the area with whom we play organized sports. In the Fall we play soccer, during Winter there is the opportunity for basketball and cheerleading, and in the Spring we participate in track. Currently all of our teams are co-ed. We stress the fellowship, having fun, sportsmanship, and "everyone participates" aspects rather than wins and losses.

What can Zion Lutheran School offer my child in the area of technology?

The area of technology is a great strength at Zion Lutheran School.

A dedicated computer lab with computers for student classroom work.

Additional computers in the classrooms for student work.

SmartBoard interactive whiteboards are used in the classrooms which allow the teachers and students to interact with content from a computer displayed on the interactive whiteboard.

The entire school is networked together. Students must log onto the network and their activities are tracked and internet usage filtered.

A dedicated T-1 internet connection gives our school a fast internet connection.

The school has a digital camera and a digital camcorder which are used by the students for presentations and other assignments.

The teachers are continually being trained in the latest aspects of using technology in the classroom.

Do students take standardized test?

Zion Lutheran School participates in the Ohio Achievement Test for grades 3-8. The students take the tests in the Spring of the school year.
